Q&A

Can BAB400 be used for 2D and 3D applications?

Yes, BAB400 is routinely used to perform 2D and 3D applications ranging from liquid handling for 2D cell culture and sample processing (e.g., DNA purification) to advanced 3D biology workflows such as organoids in fluidic devices and perfused human tissue constructs.

What benefit does BAB400 provide for Cell Culture Maintenance?

BAB400 accommodates a wide array of cells cultures (2D and 3D such as organoids and tissue constructs), assays, custom cell work, and complex automated workflows using cells/organoids/constructs. BAB400 through BioApps directed workflow steps ensure a timely and repeatable media exchange. When BAB400 relates to ImageXpress, timed interval images of the biology can also be captured. BAB is always available, day or night, weekends, and holidays to execute consistent and precise media exchange protocols.

What is the benefit of using BAB400 for 3D Bioprinting?

BAB is the only commercially available 3D printer that can combine multiple laboratory tasks with 3D printing, including contour printing, in a single printing operation. This means, the user has considerable flexibility in the printing design and strategy enabling both routine and innovative printing-based solutions. BAB400 arm can also move outside of the enclosure space to print onto large constructs or animal models.

What materials can be 3D bioprinted on BAB400?

A complete material list can be found here. Examples include bone matrix, hyaluronan, silicone, chitosan, alginate, collagen, PCL, Decellularized ECM, PEG/PEGDA, Gelatin, Pluronic and Nanocellulose. If the material can be loaded into a syringe and extruded under 85 PSI between the temperatures of 4C to 250C, then it typically can be printed on BAB400. It is possible to test a customer’s custom materials on a case-by-case basis.
